Our not-so-far-away school trip

Studying languages might not always be easy or enjoyable (I know something about it, I’ve studied four of them) but with the right approach they can turn into something fun and very helpful throughout our lives.

This is why Miss Xie decided to take all of the Year 11 Chinese class (well there are only seven of us) to a nearby Chinese restaurant where we had to order food using the “local” language. This was aimed to make us more confident about our speaking skills, not only in a classroom but in a public place as well; as we will have to be able to do this once we decide to go to China.

It really was a nice experience and I can definitely say that it made us more aware of our strengths and weaknesses in this language, but most importantly it gave us a short break from the stresses of school.
