Miley Cyrus, A tale of 2 opinions – Emil

Miley Cyrus. Everyone knows her from Hannah Montana. But according to interviews she has said that her previous image was what Hollywood created and was not her. The real fans finally understood the real Miley Cyrus when she was caught smoking weed. We also saw signs of change and rebellion when the smash hit Can’t be tamed came out, which by its name shows signs of fighting back.

She also stated that she did not like to look fake, and smile in pictures, which she was forced to do when she was young. In Rolling Stone magazine (27/9/13)* she states “I just stick my tongue out because I hate smiling in pictures. It’s so awkward. It looks so cheesy. Now people expect it, like, ‘Put your tongue out!’ It’s just easier that way. Taking pictures is so embarrassing… short hair … I think it’s empowering for girls.”

Miley Cyrus says “Hollywood is a coke town”. Cocaine can lead to addiction, mental deterioration, and death. While marijuana makes people happy and hungry and on a much less degree. A lot of artists who you wouldn’t believe consume cocaine. Miley Cyrus is just saying she does not want to follow the crowd and actually knows the danger of drugs and chooses to consume marijuana instead.

“Fun.”  That’s how Miley Cyrus described her performance at the VMA’s.  There’s no such thing as bad publicity. Miley stated in the trailer for Miley: The Movement that “Your always gonna get people talking. I just rather have them talk for two weeks instead of like, two seconds…”

In Hollywood it’s always the people that do the crazy things that attract all the attention.  Remember that’s how Elvis, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Madonna, etc. became famous by being original and creative. Miley Cyrus is smart. She knows how to get noticed. She stated in Rolling Stone* magazine “I think it’s all marketing. If a website is like, ‘We love Miley’s performance’ I don’t think people are gonna click on it.  Miley’s cute performance with teddy bears! – no one is gonna click on that”.

Music these days is ALL ABOUT MARKETING. If you can master marketing, you will be successful.

Another major piece of evidence that the ‘old’ Miley was fake is that she grew up and still resides in LA, California. Just because she was born in Tennessee, does not mean she is a country girl or loves to ride horses. I also believe it is wrong for us to judge someone on a personal level, we don’t even know her. To me she seems like a fun person to hang out with. Everything that she does, drinking, twerking for the fun of it, sticking her tongue out in pictures, swearing, etc. I highly believe many young people already act this way.

Professionally, now that she is older her voice is clearer and very powerful, unlike when she was a child. The ‘old’ Miley could never sing Wrecking Ball without sounding scruffy. It’s simple; she grew up and matured, along with her voice. All teenagers spend their teen life trying to find themselves. So this is the ‘real’ Miley

Miley has made her fourth album Bangerz a 2013 music sensation. Everyone is dying to hear this album as she has been promoting it for months (a follow up interview and review on Bangerz is coming soon). Stars Dance by Selena Gomez and Demi by Demi Lovato were produced quickly. Miley has been waiting and re-recording and re-listening to the album thousands of times to get it perfect. She is hoping for this southern-hip hop album to be as memorable as Michael Jackson’s Bad. Then there are the tours which I bet will be as crazy as she can possibly make them.

Miley follows the rules of Market Segmentation. Her music and style (new version) is aimed at certain people and she is very clever at what she does. I think people have to stop being so shallow and look past an image and truly listen to music for what it is.
