A tribute to David Bowie-what he really meant to me

Growing up with the rock and roll melodies always playing in the background from my father’s studio, David Bowie has been part of my life since I can remember.

Growing up, his songs accompanied me in my hardest of times and the fact that he has died just makes me feel like a part of me is missing. And even though through the years, my taste in music has changed, he will always be part of who I am.

I could be here writing about how he grew up and how popular he has been throughout his career, to remember, to acknowledge and to admire all of the work that he has done. Though, I don’t feel that this is the correct thing to do. By being himself he has inspired others. He has inspired his fans to be themselves and not to be afraid to accept all of you, no matter what others think, or how odd others may think you are.

As he has shown this with his alter ego Ziggy Stardust. This character that he has created has inspired me, and many other people to accept who they are and have fun with it. He was weird, he was different and he accepted that. He was not scared of who he was and he was not afraid to show it. This is why so many people have admired him and see him as such a role model.
